The Coastal path at Saint-Raphael
The city of Saint Raphael sprawls along the coastline. It has 36km of indented coast of which 30 different beaches. There are sand beaches like in Agay, at 3km distance from Esterel caravanning, pebble beaches, creeks and rocky inlets. There are 5 ports in Saint-Raphael of which a small one in Agay. The little port stretches out into the river l’Agay is basically a marina. It’s open from the 1st of May until the 30th of September. Agay-Saint Raphael has also put a new mooring system in place. The mooring line for the boats is basically a rope in the middle of the bay which remains tightened through a float. The general idea is to protect the plant life which covers the seabed of the Agay bay and to collect wastewater so that seawater remains clean. The coastal path Saint-Raphael : From the Santa Lucia marina to the Baumette pointe, this path winds at the waterside between the sea and the Esterel Mountains and was originaly the coast guards path. It will take 4h30(11km). You start at the Santa Lucia marina beside the shipyard. after that you follow the yellow markings. The path ends at the Baumette point. |
